Teacher of the Year: JOSH
We’re thrilled to honor Josh as our Teacher of the Year! Their dedication, passion, and exceptional teaching have made a lasting impact on our students. Whether inspiring creativity or helping students overcome challenges, Josh continues to raise the bar in music education.
Josh is known for creating a fun, supportive learning environment where every student feels seen and encouraged. Parents consistently share how their children come home excited, confident, and motivated after each lesson. From first-time beginners to advanced musicians, Josh brings out the best in every learner.
This year, Josh also went above and beyond by contributing to student events, supporting fellow teachers, and finding new ways to keep lessons engaging. Their energy and commitment truly embody the heart of Irvine Academy of Music.
We’re excited to see how Josh will continue to shape the musical journeys of our students in the year ahead — and we’re proud to have such an inspiring educator on our team!

Student of the Year: Martin Nguyen
A big congratulations to Martin Nguyen, our Student of the Year! His growth, determination, and love for music have been truly inspiring. Martin has shown what it means to pursue excellence, stay committed to his craft, and push through challenges with a positive spirit.
Martin began his piano journey just six months ago, and in that short time, he has shown remarkable dedication, growth, and enthusiasm for music. He practices 15 minutes every day, proving that small, consistent effort can lead to big achievements. His progress has been impressive not only in technique, but also in musical expression and confidence.
Throughout the year, Martin has impressed us with his consistent practice, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn. He approaches every lesson with curiosity and focus, and his progress has been remarkable — not just in skill, but in confidence and musical expression. His teachers often say he’s the kind of student who reminds you why teaching music is so rewarding.
Martin also stood out for his willingness to take on new pieces, participate in recitals, and grow beyond his comfort zone. His dedication has set a powerful example for students across our academy.
We’re incredibly proud of everything Martin has achieved, and we can’t wait to see how he continues to grow and shine in 2026. This is only the beginning of what promises to be an amazing musical journey!

🎶 Reflecting on an Amazing 2025
This year has been one to remember. From unforgettable performances and recitals to exciting new programs, we’ve watched our students grow and achieve amazing things. Thank you to all of our teachers, students, and families for making 2025 a year to remember.

We also launched new opportunities this year — from group classes to special workshops — and watched our academy become an even more vibrant place for young musicians to learn, explore, and thrive.
2025 wasn’t just another year… it was a year of growth, impact, and unforgettable memories.
Here’s to even more music, joy, and inspiration in 2026. The best is yet to come! 🎶✨
Music Theory for Christmas: Let’s Get Festive!
Did you know that many of your favorite Christmas songs are based on simple music theory principles? Here are a few fun facts to impress your friends and family this holiday season!
The I-IV-V Progression: A classic chord progression found in countless Christmas carols like “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls.” The I (tonic), IV (subdominant), and V (dominant) chords form the foundation of many popular tunes.
Scales & Keys: Most Christmas carols are written in major keys, which give them that bright, cheerful sound. “Silent Night” is often played in C major, a key that’s friendly for beginners on many instruments.
Time Signatures: Christmas songs like “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Joy to the World” are in 4/4 time, meaning there are four beats per measure—perfect for marching or clapping along with your favorite holiday tunes!
The next time you’re playing a Christmas song, take a moment to notice how these basic music theory concepts come to life in your music!
